INCREASED literacy regarding the importance of employment social security protection for workers Prospective Indonesian Migrant Workers (CPMI) and the entire surrounding ecosystem are the main focus BPJS Employment in commemoration International Migrants Day or Migrant Day this year.

“This activity was held to raise awareness of the benefits of social security employment protection for Indonesian Migrant Workers, both for CPMI, PMI abroad and PMI Retired regarding their rights to protect against employment risks as stated in Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 4 of 2023 concerning Social Security for Indonesian Migrant Workers, said Pramudya.
He continued, this activity is also an effort by BPJS Employment to increase synergy with stakeholders in each region, especially at the village level, in ensuring the safe and comfortable placement and protection of migrant workers so as to encourage regional economic growth.
During the activity which was held at the Cirebon State Building, Pramudya also reminded all CPMI to use official or procedural channels so that they could obtain certainty of employment social security protection. According to data as of the end of November, there were 614 thousand PMI who were protected by BPJS Employment. Meanwhile, Cirebon is the 3rd largest city/district of origin for PMI, with 11 thousand BPJS Employment participants.
“That working abroad does not only require skills, but you also have to equip yourself with protection. This is important so that when risks occur, they and their families do not fall into poverty,” added Pramudya.
In accordance with Minister of Manpower Regulation No. 4 of 2023, there are additional benefits for Indonesian migrant workers, namely from 14 benefits increasing to 21 benefits, consisting of 7 new benefits and 9 benefits whose value has increased.
In line with what Pramudya said, Acting Regional Secretary for Cirebon City Iing Daiman also reminded migrant workers not to ignore health and safety when working in their country of placement.
“Keep your enthusiasm for work, but don’t neglect safety while working, BPJS Employment is here to protect workers and their families. We, the Cirebon City Government, really appreciate the extraordinary activities organized by BPJS Employment in collaboration with fellow migrant workers, this is part of the collaboration and synergy protect foreign exchange hero workers,” explained Iing Daiman.
It is known that BPJS Employment has built a digital channel for PMI registration via the page pmi.bpjsketenagakerjaan.go.id as well as special electronic claims for PMI which can be accessed via eklaimpmi.bpjsketenagakerjaan.go.id and the Jamsostek Mobile (JMO) application. In addition, BPJS Employment has 322 branch offices spread throughout Indonesia, 239 service units in districts/cities, of which 4 service units are in Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea and Brunei Darussalam.
Closing this activity, Pramudya again said that the latest collaboration had also been carried out by his party with the PMI Protection Ministry which opened 5 BP2MI Lounge Service Unit points at several international airports, namely Soekarno Hatta Jakarta, Kualanamu Medan, Ngurah Rai Bali, Lombok Praya NTB, and Yogyakarta .
“We have also synergized with the Ministry of Protection of PMI in registration of PMI social security protection through the SISKOP2MI integration, and registration abroad through the Indonesian Citizen Care portal, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Our priority is optimal protection for this country’s foreign exchange heroes, they also have the right to work “worry-free work which leads to the welfare of workers and their families,” concluded Pramudya.
