CHAIRMAN of Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) Sugeng Teguh Santoso supports President Prabowo’s instructions to National Police to save money in using the budget and reduce activities ceremonial.
Sugeng assessed that since taking office, President Prabowo has always emphasized budget savings in ministries or institutions. One way is to cut the budget for official trips abroad which do not have a significant impact.
Sugeng said President Prabowo also saw that budget savings had to be made by the National Police. “It seems that the National Police is paying attention to Pak Prabowo. If it is related to reducing ceremonies, this is related to reducing funding, such as kunker (work visits) abroad so that the budget can be directed to more important operations,” said Sugeng to Indonesian MediaWednesday (11/12).
Sugeng also appreciated President Prabowo’s statement asking the National Police to side with the community. He said President Prabowo’s statement was different from that of 7th President Joko Widodo.
“When Jokowi once stated that the police supported investment, this was the opposite. Now Prabowo is being more populist, emphasizing service to the people. That is a good goal and also a concern that the National Police is paying attention to President Prabowo,” he said.
Previously, Prabowo reminded the police to always be frugal and efficient in managing the budget. One of the efforts is to reduce ceremonial events.
“Once again, economicalreduce waste. “Reduce the ceremonies, don’t have too many anniversary (celebrations),” said Prabowo when giving directions at the 2024 Police Headquarters Ceremony at the Police Academy, Semarang, Central Java, Wednesday (11/12).
Prabowo said that birthday celebrations in the police should be celebrated simply. One of them is with a tumpengan at the headquarters. “Reduce birthday celebrations. “It’s as simple as staying at headquarters,” he stressed.
Furthermore, Prabowo reminded the ranks of the Bhayangkara Corps to always side with the people and defend the people’s interests. Prabowo made this request on behalf of the Indonesian people.
“I am on behalf of the Indonesian people. On behalf of your parents. On behalf of your children, the police will take sides and always defend the interests of the Indonesian people,” Prabowo said. (J-2)
