The verdict was read out by presiding judge Bambang Setyawan at District Court (PN) DepokWest Java. In his decision, Bambang stated that the defendant, who works as a parenting influencer, was proven and convinced that he was guilty.
“Legitimately and convincingly proven guilty of committing criminal acts of violence against children as in the second alternative indictment,” said Bambang.
For this mistake, the panel of judges sentenced him to prison for one year. “Sentenced the defendant to prison for one year,” he said.
Bambang continued, Meita’s prison sentence was reduced by the prison term he had served before the court verdict. Apart from undergoing physical confinement, the defendant was also subject to compensation for the two victims amounting to IDR 300 million, with a nominal value of IDR 150 million each.
“If the defendant is unable to pay compensation to the two victims, he can be replaced with five months in prison,” said Bambang.
The hearing to read the verdict was carried out via Zoom, that is, the defendant remained in the detention center, while the judge, public prosecutor and legal representative were in court.
Prosecutor Edrus said that it was no longer possible for the defendant to attend the trial directly at the court because he was pregnant. “Meita is very pregnant. Meita is seven months pregnant, that’s the reason,” said Edrus.
Previously, Meita was named a suspect in the case of molesting two toddlers at WSI, Harjamukti Village, Cimanggis District on Friday (2/8).
The prosecutor charged the defendant with Article 80 paragraph (2) or Article 80 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, in conjunction with Article 65 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code. (J-2)
