“Corruption is not just a violation of the law, but also a crime against human rights. “Corruption has taken away people’s rights through confiscation of state finances which should be intended for people’s welfare,” said Abdullah, quoted Wednesday (11/12).
“Because funds that should be allocated for education, health and infrastructure development are often lost due to corruption,” he added.
Abdullah believes that eradicating corruption in Indonesia can have an impact on social justice and realize the goals of the state as stated in Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution. This is because corruption not only hurts state finances but also creates sharp social inequality.
“The impact is felt most by small communities who find it increasingly difficult to access basic services. So it is the obligation of stakeholders to ensure increased efforts to eradicate corruption in Indonesia,” emphasized Abdullah.
The legislator from the Electoral District of Central Java VI who is in charge of law enforcement affairs said that corruption is a serious threat to the stability and sustainability of the nation. Abdullah added that corruption causes people’s welfare to be distorted by a handful of parties.
“Corruptive behavior is not only a crime that is detrimental to the state, but also damages social order, hinders development, and creates deep injustice in society,” he said.
According to him, Hakordia 2024 should be a moment of reflection to strengthen commitment to fighting corruption. Of course, through a firm, fair and effective legal approach.
“Law enforcement agencies must be able to provide a strong, transparent and independent legal system to ensure that every perpetrator of corruption, regardless of status or position, can be punished in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Abdullah.
“Corruption is a form of betrayal of public trust. “Therefore, law enforcement must be oriented towards a deterrent effect, but still based on the principles of justice,” he stressed. (J-2)
