JOINT Regency Women’s Organizations (GOW). GarutWest Java, held a 16-day anti-violence campaign against women which was held at Otto Iskandardinata Field, Garut District.
This activity is part of the 96th Mother’s Day commemoration in 2024.
Head of the Garut Regency Population Control, Family Planning, Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (DPPKBPPPA) Service, Yayan Waryana, said that the 16-day anti-violence against women campaign was a commitment to eradicating violence against women in a sustainable manner.
“Not only during the 16 days of anti-violence campaign against women, but it must be forever. We create an environment so that women can live safely, happily, without discrimination. “We reject the negative stigma that is often attached to women, emphasizing the importance of gender equality, including respect for women’s rights,” he said, Wednesday (11/12).
Meanwhile, Head of the Garut Women and Child Protection Division (DPPKBPPPA), Iryani, said the campaign was the result of collaboration between the Garut Regency Government and GOW. A number of elements of society also participated as proof of the strong support for the anti-violence movement against women in Garut Regency.
“Thank God, we are united. All the mothers who are members of the combined women’s organization (GOW), institutions, universities and all communities are campaigning against violence against women,” he said.
Various activities were carried out in the campaign. These include gymnastics, orations, commitment signing, making a wishing tree, and a parade. It is hoped that this activity is not just ceremonial but part of ongoing efforts to convey important messages to society so that there will be no more violence against women.
“The main aim of this campaign is to end violence against women. Not just for 16 days, but violence against women must end forever,” stressed Iryani.
