CHIEF OF POLICE General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ensure that they are alert to threats acts of terror during the celebration of Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru). All personnel were involved in security, especially the National Police’s Special Anti-terror Detachment (Densus) 88.
“Then of course we are alert to security during Christmas Eve and Christmas celebrations, therefore of course all security personnel, both uniform and non-uniform,” said the National Police Chief after a cross-sectoral coordination meeting on Christmas security readiness at the STIK-PTIK Auditorium, South Jakarta, Monday ( 12/16).
The National Police Chief said that Densus members would cooperate with the State Intelligence Agency (SON) to the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT). This is a precautionary measure terror threat
“Friends from Densus will of course work together with BIN, BAIS, BNPT to carry out security more optimally and hopefully everything can be controlled,” said the National Police Chief.
The National Police Chief chaired a cross-sectoral coordination meeting (rakor) in preparation for the Nataru Security Candle Operation from this morning until this afternoon. This coordination meeting was attended by ministries/institutions and related bodies.
The National Police Chief said that 61,452 locations would be objects of security during Christmas. These include churches, shopping centers, terminals, stations, ports, airports, tourist attractions and New Year celebration objects.
The National Police also established 2,794 posts to secure these 61 thousand points. Consisting of 1,852 security posts (pospam), 735 service posts (pos yan), and 207 integrated posts.
“Of course, by deploying personnel and all relevant stakeholders, we hope that the 2024 Christmas celebrations and security can really run well and the community can really be served,” said the National Police Chief.
On the other hand, Listyo explained that the number of homecoming travelers during the Christmas holiday is predicted to reach 110.6 million people. According to him, this number could increase considering that the number of homecoming travelers last year increased by 17 percent compared to the survey results.
Therefore, security for the Nataru homecoming flow is being finalized by the TNI-Polri and all relevant stakeholders. The peak of homecoming traffic is predicted to occur on 21 and 28 December 2024.
