Ministry of Transportation (Ministry of Transportation) has prepared a number of policies in regulating mobility during Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025 (Nataru). This was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, at the Coordination Meeting on Readiness for Christmas 2024 and New Year 2024 with the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, in Jakarta, Monday (16/12).
There are 8 policy bases in the form of ministerial decisions, cross-ministerial/agency agreements, and director general decisions/instructions prepared to ensure that transportation can run safely and smoothly during the 2024/2025 Christmas period.
On transportation sector land, the Ministry of Transportation has made a Joint Decree between the Ministry of Transportation, the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Public Works, and the National Police Traffic Corps regarding the Regulation of Road Traffic and Crossings during the 2024/2025 Christmas Period.
“This policy is in the form of operational restrictions on goods transportation, contra flow, one way, as well as anticipating traffic engineering on areas prone to congestion,” said Dudy in an official statement quoted on Tuesday (17/12).
Furthermore, in the crossing area, the Ministry of Transportation has arranged a travel delay (delaying system) and as a buffer zone for passenger vehicles heading to Merak Harbor, Bakauheni Harbor, Ketapang Harbor and Gilimanuk Harbor. This scheme is to limit the operation of goods transportation to and from the port. In the maritime transportation sector, the Ministry of Transportation has entered into an Agreement on Fleet Readiness and Route Division for Sea Transport Services and Sea Transport Organisation, through a Joint Agreement with Ferry Shipping Companies on the Merak-Bakauheni Route. The Directorate General of Sea Transportation has also issued Director General of Transportation Instruction No. IR-DJPL 8 of 2024 regarding the Implementation of Sea Transportation for Christmas 2024 and New Year 2025.
In the aviation sector, the Ministry of Transportation has also implemented a number of policies. These include reducing the fuel surcharge amount for economy class service passenger rates during the 2024/2025 Christmas period, imposing discounts on airport service rates, imposing a 50% PNBP rate on airport services at airport operating units within the Ministry of Transportation and organizing Integrated Command Posts for Nataru 2024/2024 Air Transport. 2025.
“Facing Christmas 2024, the air transportation sector has reduced airplane ticket prices,” emphasized the Minister of Transportation.

For ferry transportation, facilities have been prepared for 159 ferry boats with a capacity of 2.3 million passengers. The infrastructure prepared is 11 crossing ports as well as 29 MB Piers, 2 Pontoon Piers and 17 Plengsengan Piers.
For sea transportation, 765 ships and 32 patrol ships with a capacity of 180,287 seats have been prepared. In addition, 264 Sea Ports have been prepared. In air transportation, 410 aircraft have been prepared with a capacity of 8,233,995 passengers. Apart from that, 56 airports are also ready to operate during the 2024/2025 Christmas period.
Meanwhile, for rail transportation, the facilities prepared are 2,683 trains. The transport capacity is 4.1 million intercity train passengers, 2.6 million regional train passengers and 48.6 million commuter train passengers. The entire railway network of Sumatra, Java and South Sulawesi is ready.
