Fortnitemares will be back in October 2021, with tons of spooky skins, Halloween-themed cards, and a very special Shortnitemares film festival to enjoy! With Fortnite in its eighth season since Chapter 2, there is a ton of new stuff and lore for players to explore. Battle royale fans are busy with Cube’s mysterious takeover of the Fortnite map, as well as the new Battle Pass and Sideways weapons.
Speaking of being busy, it’s that time of year again when Epic Games releases their spooky Halloween events… yeah, it’s time for Fortnitemares 2021! Here’s everything you need to know about this year’s highly anticipated event.
Start and end dates for Fortnitemares 2021
Fortnitemares 2021 celebrations begin on October 5, 2021 and end on November 1, 2021. This means horror fans will be able to enjoy almost a month of weird celebrations!
Epic has revealed that each week will have its own special Fortnitemares features, and that each day will include new and old Halloween-themed skins in the Item Shop.
New skins for Fortnite: Nightmares 2021
The Universal Monsters skin set will be introduced in Fortnitemares 2021, starting with Frankenstein’s Monster in the Item Shop on October 5, 2021. Later this month, it will be joined by The Mummy.
Epic presents a series of new skins with the use of fate cards, which will be returned during the Fortnitemares event. These skins will be a mix of fresh additions and spooky takes on iconic Fortnite costumes.
One of the fortune cards appears to be a nod to Rick Grimes from The Walking Dead, as a sheriff’s hat can be seen on the back of one. It would definitely go with the Halloween theme.
Details on the Shortnitemares Film Festival
Epic has announced its third Short Nite film festival, Shortnitemares, to coincide with Fortnitemares 2021. It will include a number of animated shorts based on the “macabre and sinister”.
Unlike previous Short Nite festivals, Shortnitemares will take place in a bespoke movie theater, with each short animation having its own theater area, allowing you to view them in any order you choose.
There is no word on a date or time, but it is expected to take place during week 4 of Forntitemares (October 26 – November 1). We will keep you posted as soon as an official date is confirmed.
New game modes are available
According to HYPEX, a well-known leaker, parts of the files discovered hint at some new gameplay elements Epic is working on, which could be released alongside Fortnitemares 2021.
In previous years, Fortnite has added specific game modes focused on Fortnitemares, which involved players transforming into ghosts in order to capture players across the map. So it could come back this year, but we’ll have to wait and see.
