DEPUTY Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Deputy Minister of MSMEs) Helvi Y Moraza believes that good collaboration between stakeholders will be the key to success Stone CityEast Java (Jatim), to create a MSME tourism center.
“With unified support between stakeholders, Batu City is able to advance its economic sector, both the tourism sector and MSMEs, especially in the creative industry which is filled by young people,” said Deputy Minister Helvi in a series of visits to the Batu City MSME Tourist Safari, East Java, Friday ( 12/13).
Deputy Minister Helvi said that Batu City has beautiful potential in terms of tourism which can be maximized to grow the creative economy, while simultaneously advancing MSMEs.
For this reason, the Deputy Minister of UMKM hopes that the local government, both the Batu City Government and the Department of Cooperative Industry and Trade, will have a strong commitment to facilitating the needs of MSME entrepreneurs.
“Such as the existence of an Integrated Business Service Center (PLUT) from the central government, to market development by PUPR, this shows that there is synergy between stakeholders in efforts to advance MSMEs,” said Deputy Minister Helvi.
Apart from that, Deputy Minister Helvi also emphasized the importance of involving young people in growing the creative economy in Batu City.
On this occasion, the Deputy Minister of UMKM inaugurated the UMKM Co-Working Space at the Among Tani Main Market, Batu City, which is expected to become a place for young MSME entrepreneurs to innovate in developing local products.
This co-working is designed to be a center for creative activities for MSME entrepreneurs, which is also equipped with business training facilities, marketing consultations, and access to digital technology.
“This facility is not only a place to work, but also a place to collaborate and innovate. Our MSMEs must be able to utilize technology and network to penetrate the global market,” said Deputy Minister Helvi.
Apart from close collaboration, according to the Deputy Minister of MSMEs, the creative economy also needs to be fostered through local economic empowerment.
For example, Deputy Minister Helvi appreciated the concept of the Batu City Rejoso Creative Economy Village and MSMEs which he had just inaugurated, because it focuses on presenting various local products such as handicrafts, traditional culinary delights, and lodging services managed by local residents.
“This is proof that micro and small businesses can be the backbone of the regional economy. This Tourism Village not only offers natural and cultural beauty, but is also a forum for MSMEs to grow and develop,” said the Deputy Minister of MSMEs.
Deputy Minister Helvi also said that the existence of a tourist village like this would open up opportunities for local MSMEs to expand their market access. For this reason, he encouraged MSME entrepreneurs to continue to innovate in creating valuable products, which are also tailored to tourists’ needs.
“The Ministry of MSMEs will also continue to provide support in the form of training, mentoring and access to financing so that MSMEs in this region can be more competitive,” said Deputy Minister Helvi. (Adv)
