Untar Chancellor Prof. Dr. Amad Sudiro, SH, MH, M.Kn., MM, said that the establishment of this study program was a strategic step to answer the needs of the increasingly rapid development of communication science.
“The establishment of the Communication Science Master’s Study Program can also strengthen Untar’s reputation as one of the best private universities in Indonesia,” stressed Amad Sudiro.
It is said that the establishment of this study program was based on the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 609/E/0/2024 concerning Permits to Open the Master’s Program in Communication Science at Tarumanagara University.
Chancellor Amad Sudiro hopes that the study program, whose teaching and learning process will start in early 2025, can be managed well, so that it can develop sustainably and make a significant contribution in the field of communication science.
On that occasion, the Chairman of the Tarumanagara Foundation Management, Prof. Dr. Ariawan Gunadi, SH, MH, who was also present at the event, emphasized the importance innovation in communication science to answer the needs of the younger generation, especially Generation Z, such as in the field of digital communication.
“We have to be adaptive to developments over time. “The establishment of the Fikom Untar Communication Science Master’s Study Program is an achievement that should be appreciated,” he said.
Ariawan added that communication science remains relevant in various parts of the world. “In my observations when visiting various well-known campuses abroad, communication science is still very popular. “It is important to combine communication science with other scientific disciplines in order to meet the growing needs of society,” he added.
Dean of Fikom Untar Dr. Riris Loisa., M.Si stated that the Untar Communication Science Master’s Study Program was held by prioritizing Humanist, Entrepreneurial, Professionalism and Integrity values. With these values, graduates will be able to innovate to face challenges in an increasingly complex world of communication, by strengthening digital communication.
The inauguration event was also filled with presentations from Expert Staff of the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital, Dr. Riant Nugroho, M.Sc., CBA, who presented material entitled “Communication Science Today: From Clarity and Certainty to Crossroads with Uncertainty.” Riant Nugroho’s presentation highlighted the evolution of communication from analog to digital media, which has changed the way humans understand and influence public opinion.
