Corruption Eradication Commission Dare to Face Megawati If Hasto Is Arrested
The Corruption Eradication COMMISSION (KPK) does not feel threatened by the words of the General Chair of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri who wants to visit the Anti-Corruption Agency if it is the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto arrested. The KPK believes that the Fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia is a statesman who will support law enforcement.
“I think there is no threat there, that I believe she (Megawati) is a statesman, the fifth President of the Republic of Indonesia, the daughter of the late Engineer Soekarno. I believe that Mrs. Megawati is pro with law enforcement,” said a KPK spokesperson. Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto in Jakarta, Saturday (14/12).
Tessa said that her party did not believe the assessment that Megawati’s statement was a threat to the KPK. The public is asked not to indiscriminately stir up issues.
“After I saw the video, it wasn’t like that, so I invited colleagues, not those here, those outside that I know and those here, of course I understand very well, that colleagues will provide wise titles and narratives for the unity of this nation in the future. ,” said Tessa.
In her statement, Megawati wanted to come if Hasto was arrested. This promise was made as a responsibility to its citizens and their subordinates.
Megawati actually did not go into detail about the case that she thought could ensnare Hasto. Previously, the 2019 election candidate from PDIP Alexsius Akim was questioned by the Corruption Eradication Commission on Monday, August 5 2024. He admitted that he had been fired by his former party unilaterally even though he should have been appointed as a member of the council.
“What is clear is that I should have been appointed but I was dismissed,” said Alexsius at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Monday, August 5 2024.
Alexsius has now joined the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI). At that time, he claimed to have received the most votes in West Kalimantan, however, he was expelled from PDIP without being given an explanation.
“I didn’t know why until today I was dropped,” said Alexsius.
