Culturally Speaking #23 By Sarah Stodola -------------------------------------- Kristen Gore, daughter of Al Gore, wanted to write a novel. Harvey Weinstein wanted a Bridget Jones Goes to D.C. novel. They ran into each other at a party. The novel comes out late this summer...I can't help but wonder if there wasn't some serious ghostwriting involved. * * * List your own favorite sentence from a novel, or just read the favs of others (found via Maud Newton). * * * I could not bring myself to watch Bush's press conference the other night, and it wasn't because I so emphatically disagree with every single thing he utters; it was because he makes me nervous for him. I am afraid that he won't be able to make it through a sentence at some point, like sometimes happens to little kids when they get stage fright for the first time. I even feel bad saying this, because he is the president, even if he is this president. But really, for me, it's much less uncomfortable to just read about it all the next day. * * * New Magazine called Swink, looks like it could be good. * * * Condoleezza Rice treats her place in the Bush Administration the same way she treated writing books. * * * - What not to do if you are ever in the position to make a movie. * * * The history of the United States through, ah yes, what else, the dollar. * * * I'm stepping away from the computer - it's going to be 75 degrees and sunny all weekend, and I need to reacquaint myself with what that feels like. --------------------------------------- Sarah Stodola is the Managing Editor of Me Three.
