Culturally Speaking #25: The Silver Anniversary Edition By Sarah Stodola -------------------------------------- As many of you know, I am currently writing my Master's thesis. Lately, I have started dreaming about writing my Master's thesis. It has followed that when I sit down to actually write my Master's thesis, I can no longer distinguish what has really been written and what has merely been dreamed of being written. This is making for some tough going. * * * London isn't typically known for its skyscrapers, but anyway, here we are... * * * Me Three contributor Lionel Beehner has a piece running in this Sunday's New York Times. Unfortunately, you can't link to webpages of the future, but look for it anyway. * * * Jonathan Ames has a book coming out this summer in the grand tradition of P.G. Wodehouse. Stay tuned to this very site for more on this in the near future. * * * This series on The Morning News by Gary Benchley has been consistently funny. This week he encounters the world of New York bloggers. * * * Google is going public. Does that qualify as a cultural event? * * * Generally, I am completely skeptical of "how to" books. But The Forest for the Trees, a book of advice for writers, has proven itself quite accurate, now that I have some experience of my own to weigh it against. * * * Another verdict on postmodernism. * * * The ten countries joining the EU this week will place 450 million people under the umbrella of one organization. * * * Click here for last week's Culturally Speaking. --------------------------------------- Sarah Stodola is the Managing Editor of Me Three.
