Breaking News: Arthur Miller has passed at the age of 89.

It's quite a curious thing that the political talk shows air on Sunday mornings. What this means is that you can either familiarize yourself with the political issues of the day, or you can go to church. Hmmm....

So apparently McSweeney's is the only lit journal on earth that is "solvent." Unfortunately, I can't dispute that statement with figures from my own literary journal...

Very clever of Ron over at Beatrice to point out that Page Six has been promoting Harper Collins' books and authors with uncanny frequency, without letting us in on the fact that both The New York Post and Harper Collins are owned by the same parent company.

It's no surprise that Madonna would be near the top of the list of highest paid commercial artists of 2004, but I'm hard-pressed to imagine how Prince managed to top the list.  Was he doing anything last year?  Apparently so, I guess...

So the new big thing as of tomorrow is to have an apartment overlooking Central Park so you can throw a party for the opening of The Gates.

For all of Las Vegas' hedonism and excessive pointlessness, it is creating some pretty fantastic entertainment venues...

The Brooklyn Rail has a great piece on sweatshops in New York City, and in particular a small operation in Bed-Stuy, where workers earn less than $1.50 per hour...
