At
the End of the Day

Marcia went to bed that night as usual with her Golliwog she’s
had since a child. Fred had called about ten-thirty but he was distant.
Something’s wrong, Marcia thought. Fred said he’d see
her tomorrow and Marcia believed him. He’s so handsome, Marcia
said, inadvertently hugging her doll. And, right before sleep came,
she thought about that woman who works with him, the one with the
big tits, the one who calls Fred honey.
