THE Revenant is a survival drama film released in 2015, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, and starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy.
The film is inspired by the true story of Hugh Glass, a 19th century American explorer, and is based on the novel by Michael Punke.

The story takes place in 1823, in the wilderness region of North America. Hugh Glass, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, a hunter and explorer, joins an expedition group in search of animal skins.
While en route, Glass was brutally attacked by a grizzly bear, leaving him in critical condition.
Due to his injuries, the expedition group was forced to leave Glass behind. However, John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy), another hunter in the group, deliberately betrays Glass, killing his son Hawk, and burying Glass alive in the forest.
Filled with revenge and a desire to survive, Glass struggles against extreme weather, hunger, and danger from hostile Native American tribes.
With extraordinary strength, Glass goes on a long journey to take revenge on Fitzgerald for his betrayal.
This film depicts humanity’s struggle against nature, physical and mental toughness, and the desire to survive despite facing extraordinary obstacles.
Another major theme is revenge and forgiveness, with Glass’ character facing a moral conflict amidst his suffering. (Z-12)
