ACTING West Java Governor Bey Machmudin inspects the disaster site tidal flood in Legon Kulon District, Regency SubangSunday (15/12) afternoon.
After inspecting several houses affected by the tidal flood, Bey coordinated with the Head of Legon Wetan Village. He saw short-term emergency efforts that had been made by building geobag embankments to divert water flows into settlements and roads.
“There has been an emergency effort from the village head to build geobags. This is the fastest effort that can be done,” said Bey.
According to him, the geobag embankment is short term. In the long term, the provincial government will coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works to build a higher and more permanent wave barrier.
Bey appealed to residents in disaster-prone areas to always be alert to extreme weather that will hit until early 2025.
“Apart from that, people have to be careful, especially in the current climate. At the end of the year we have to be careful,” he said.
The tidal flood disaster in Subang submerged the houses of 1,792 families from four villages, namely Legon Wetan Village, Mayangan Village, Pangarengan Village and Tegalurung Village.
